Description :	Cette chape est composée de cinq lés et de deux petits morceaux. Le motif est tellement grand que le report du dessin n'est pas visible. Par souci d'économie, le chaperon a été découpé dans le haut du lé central. Les orfrois (galons) ont été remplacés au 19e siècle. La doublure est de bougran, en toile de lin ou de chanvre, enduite de gomme arabique et teinte en bleu au 17e siècle, puis en rouge au 18e siècle.

Historique :	Le motif à la palme, d'après l'expression utilisée dans les textes italiens du 18e siècle, est caractérisé par un motif à grand rapport orné de feuilles d'acanthe fortement nervurées se développant à partir de motifs végétaux centraux, qui s'emboîtent les uns dans les autres. Ce motif connut un succès immédiat et ne cessa d'être réédité jusqu'à la fin du 19e siècle. Né à Gênes, il a été fabriqué en Angleterre, en Belgique et sans doute à Tours.
