Historique :	Cette Vierge appartient à un groupe issu de l'iconographie de la Vierge de la Chandeleur, apparue au 13e siècle, et présente pour la première fois dans le Midi languedocien sue l'une des clefs de voûte du choeur de la cathédrale Saint-Etienne de Toulouse. La Vierge est assise et présente l'Enfant debout sur son genou gauche, et entourée d'anges. Il ne s'agit pas d'une Vierge en Majesté mais de la Présentation au Temple, iconographie fréquemment utilisée dans un contexte funéraire. Ce thème s'est progressivement répandu et simplifié. Si cette Vierge est une Vierge de la Chandeleur à vocation funéraire, elle peut provenir des chapelles vicariales ou domestiques qui dépendaient de la paroisse Saint-Victor, comme celle des Pénitents blancs et bleus, ou encore la chapelle du cimetière, détruite en 1843.

Précision_sur la representation :	Groupe en bois sculpté et doré, au dos évidé, représentant la Vierge, assise, de face, tenant l'Enfant debout sur son genou gauche. A l'origine l'Enfant Jésus tenait un oiseau dans la main gauche.
